Google might penalise your website for being hosted overseas. How can Google tell? It is public record, just like a phone number, a web address has a unique IP address with a built in country code. Don't have to take our words for it, this is what Google tells web developers:
"we'll continue to make geographic associations largely based on the IP address of the web server from which the context was served"

Huge Legal risk - Transferring and/or storing private information in a foreign country

Don't say we didn't warn you. Legal claims are out of control and the Australian government is assembling a legislation to make some foreign data transfer/storage illegal.

Is it really as bad as it sounds? Identity theft keeps climbing, according to the ACCC: "losses to the Australian community are estimated to be in excess of $1 billion annually." Losses from credit card fraud were $145 million with more than $71 million from card-not-present schemes (phone & Internet). ONE IN EIGHT people are affected!
